QUICKFIRE ROUND: EXECUTIVE PRODUCER CATHERINE WESTGATE

QUICKFIRE ROUND

Every fortnight we’re going to sit down with one of our wonderful Frontier people to get stuck into their life, their career and their top tips for the next generation of VFX talent coming through. This time out we’ve sat down with Executive Producer Catherine Westgate.

We are currently hiring for multiple positions to join Catherine and the team on some major upcoming Netflix titles. Get in touch with our team today!

Can you tell us a little bit about your background in VFX?

I’ve been in the industry for over 10 years working mainly in production at Framestore, MELS, and DNEG before joining Frontier.

What most excited you about joining Frontier?

So many things! The challenge of working at a new company and on a new pipeline. Getting a chance to work with Netflix directly to help develop tools and workflows. I’m also really happy to be working with a smaller team – I actually know everyone at the company! And, for sure, the better work-life balance – clocking off at 5pm almost every day is just amazing.

What is the most valuable thing about WFH for you?

Working in soft pants.

What moment/project is your proudest in your VFX career?

It’s really hard to choose one. You always get a sense of pride (and relief!) when you finally hear the approval on that last shot of the project. The same goes for when you actually watch the show/film!

What most excites you about your future at Frontier and the studio’s commitment to working from home?

For me, it’s the possibility to finally settle in the woods somewhere, by a lake, working on more challenging shows, and seeing the evolution of the company all from the comfort of my soft pants.

I'm also really happy to be working with a smaller team - I actually know everyone at the company!
